As we approach the 5th Anniversary of 9/11, and the terrible reminders of all those who lost their lives on that devastating day in the United States,
I ask all of you to please display your countries Flag Proudly in memory of all those lost forever by a terrorist attack.
Let us never forget, It was not only Americans who lost their lives on that fateful day, but people from all countries, races and religions around the world were slaughtered also.
My memories are horrific of that day...You see, my son Joe was one of the Police Officers commissioned to the scene of the World Trade Center on that morning when the first Tower was hit.
The fright worry and anguish I experienced was beyond belief. My son called me at 8:55 am that morning and told me we were being attacked in N.Y.C. He instructed me to turn the TV on.. His conversation was brief... He said that he didn't know when he'd be able to contact me again, and that he had to go. However, his last words to me were
I Love you Mom , don't worry ...That was it, the phone went dead...Don't worry I thought?...how could I not! I was devastated!
I truly held my breath as I watched in horror as the 1st Tower went up in flames...My worry for my son was unbelievable, but the fear for my Country was just as great.
This was just so incomprehensible for me. This couldn't possibly happen here! Not here! Never in the United States!!! But it had...
On the 3rd day after the attack, I knew then and only then that I was one of the truly very lucky Mothers who's son came home ALIVE, So many didn't.
The sorrow for all those lost will never end or be forgotten.....The ease of living in an untouched Country was forever gone. My memories of once a safe and beautiful country were also lost forever.
So if I may ask Every individual from all over the world in this forum, please make it your duty to display your countries Flag on this fifth anniversary of My country's worst tragedy. But also, perhaps you can write a small tribute to their memory... We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms. Some may not agree with the Politics, but this isn't about Politics...It's about the people who went to work and boarded a plane one sunny morning on Sept 11,2001 and never came home.
Cherish the freedoms that you all have, and realize how very lucky you all are to be able to turn your PC's on to play a game...For you are truly Blessed.
Never Forget...
