During our 2nd game, some people started complaining about tanks vanishing and such.
I just wanted to explain what causes this. When you have a big, open arena like Caldera where you can see the majority of the action from any point, TM has to get updates on every bit of that action from the server. This causes massive requests to the server, and thus lag. Caldera is one of the worst maps for this becuase of the big pit. I experienced it, I'm sure 99% of the people experienced it, where tanks wouldn't always update in a prompt manner.
It's something that you just have to live with in clan games on certain maps.
One thing that causes increased bandwidth, and thus increased lag, are weapon projectiles that have high crud effects on them, such as Plasma Ball, Wasp, and Plasma Mine. If we were to reduce some of the visual effects of these weapons, we could probably reduce lag.
Anyone interested in that? If so, I'll look into which effects we can kill without changing how the weapon looks in combat.
