Right let me have a look on this.
My own suggestions:
1- 24-bit colour support or 16.7 million colours.
2- Adults only boards (you would need VISA as proof of ID)
3- Disable use of the ESC key and Alt+F4 to prevent cheating
4- Background music (Audio CD, MP3, MP4, OGG, WAV and so on)
5- Board Editor\Creator
6- Multiple Speakers support (if the ball is on the left only the left speakers make noise)
7- Better documentation for routers and port forwarding
8- Record gameplay as MPG, AVI or WMV
9- Large avatar support up to 150x150
10- Note Abuse button once pressed an email is sent to Moderators with Note contents.
11- True DirectX 9 support (DirectX 10 is only for Vista so is bad)
12- Automatic Support for WinXP SP2 Firewall
13- VOIP support so players can talk to each other while playing.
14- Replace the whole chat room with a irc channel using Java (cut and paste of text, bots to ban abusive people) - revised 9th July
15- Clear Unused Game Room or Login Entries from registry function
16- Easy Screen Capture functions using GdiPlus.dll
17- Lock Windowed mode Window so mouse can't escape the game while playing can be enabled or disabled via hotkey
18- 32-bit and 64-bit versions
19- Dual-core CPU support
20- Unlimited number of characters in Notes field (scroll bars?)
21- Tooltips near the system tray displaying Player10 is trying to join your game similier to Instant Messenging software
22- Allow only one instance of Rival Ball.exe - added 15th July
1: I think RBT using a 16 bit interface.
2: Nice idea but not enough people will be interested in it.
3: We all agree there
4: If you want different background music mute the games music and put a cd on using a Cd playing program.
5: Im afraid it won't happen if you add one of them no one will buy the extra board pack and the game will unfortunatly die.
6: I think it already has this.
7: We all could do with this
8: Can't see why not other games have it.
9: Most forums stick with 100/100 to keep the avitars small and to keep the page loading quickly.
10: just Pm one of the mods I did that once when a spammer i knew joined up to this forum.
11: DirectX 9 is fu*king up my system right now.
12: Great idea not gonna happen.
13: Ever tried teamspeak? or Xfire? i do voicechats on them.
14: i keep hearing about IRC but i am hopeless to understand it.
15: I haven't found an unused game room yet.
16: Printscreen key does the same thing.
17: Never seen the mouse escape the game.
18: unfortunatly i can't see it happening since All of LDA's games are designed to run on as many systems as possible.
19: Er same as above.
20: I can't see why this can't be added.
21: Why not?
22: Even if you have more than 1 RB open you can only play online with one of them
one of my own here
23: A clickable link that allows you to view some more infomation on them such as LDA username and email.
Now i desperatly need to crash out.
1: Yes, but have it more customizable (like more of an options menu)
2: Er... I personally think that idea wouldn't last long.
4: MP3, WMA, OGG, and WAV only (go open source)
5: Nice idea, but if you look at the game StepMania, the game is thriving even with custom content.
6: I would call that stereo sound, and I think it's supported already... I think.
7: Um... I have an idea: an in program NAT Firewall test... allows you to test ports in the program like Azureus.
8: I recommend FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com)
9: Waste of resources
10: Yay abuse button!
11: I would disagree with you, as that for a game such as RBT, OpenGL seems to do the trick with a lot of ease. Besides, OpenGL is open source... DirectX isn't... and I've benched my computer to realize that OpenGL does a way better job of maintaining better frame rates than DirectX.
12: That won't happen... it's M1cr0$0f7...
13: Hmmm... try running 2 programs at once...
14: IRC... a problem there... channel takeover is easy, thus chaos. Create a pseudo-live chat system using LDA as main relay server. (Java actually is not that good of a programming language and is a bit slow)
15: That's just a gameroom file that logs people's names and stuff. Option to clear that out at every exit or something similar.
16: What NN9 said.
17: I agree w/ ckit
18: That won't happen... architecture of both systems are vastly different (you should try looking at assembly language one day... it's a mess)
19: Is multithreading really needed for a game like RBT?
20: Hmmm... I see a buffer overrun attack risk in that idea...
21: Agree, but replace that text box at bottom right to a more efficient version.
22: 1 instance is good, as that with 2 instances, you could log in with two usernames, and fight yourself constantly, thus cheating with ranks.
23: Make that info appear as a hover bubble when you hover over their name or avatar.
I have some of my own.
24: Have mini avatars next to their names (cute)
25: Build a crashcatcher (aka if RBT crashes, you don't get window's stupid crash log, instead RBT's own crash logger and system) (Reference idea to StepMania) (It's actually quite efficient)
26: AI-s on the game room! When there's noone online, might as well play against a CPU; Either local or LDA server ai... (interesting idea)
27: A more comprehensive options menu allowing more control.
28: A skinnable game (you can make themes for RBT... (Idea from StepMania)
29: Option to have a direct connection with opponent via advanced options menu... (viable... you could have the two players set up their own connections)
30: Open source the game? That would allow the community to make plugins, and customized versions in order to enhance the gameplay (Great idea, but I know it will take a toll on LDA as that they would then be patching and upgrading like crazy to keep up)
So who wants a bowl of Mixed Tropical Fruit? ^_^
