I just purchased the game and love it, very happy to see such a large active community.

Now for some questions I did a forum search to see if there already covered that how I found the patches ;) I bought 5.5 version.

What are the differences in the stock tanks and has anyone made a reader or exel listing of them? ie highest raw speed firepower or turning force?

For all the modded or created tanks which is unfair or uber?

and does the increased friction mod on the official download page flag you for cheating in online play?

is there a sticky or reccomend set of mods to put in the addon folder?

Thank you for any and all responces

Welcome to TM!

Hmm

TM version are 1.0.x, 1.5.x, and 1.6. The latest version is 1.6. I have no clue what this 5.5 that you are refering to is.

Stock tanks, with the exception of the mite, are all very similar. Liquid tanks have slightly lower grippage and slightly weaker armor than steel tanks. Most of the difference come in contact points, or basically where the tank touches the ground. This affects how well it drives, and is mainly is a personal preference.

Any mods you have installed when you join a server are overridden by the server's settings, so it is impossible to ever cheat via mods. If you try to join with a tank that the server doesn't have, you can't (the game loading screen never completes) and it leaves a dummy tank on the server that's an easy frag for everyone. Please don't do this :). I don't know of any servers that accept 3rd party tanks currently. They are mainly for playing single player :).

As for mods, there are LOTS of them. I've got a lot on my site, but there are other archives elsewhere: http://treadmarks.vorklift.com

Hi and welcome to tm!

Speaking of mods, dennis, I have a stripped down version of Victim's Valour for you and anyone else who'd prefer it. All it's missing is 2 pointless pics, and the screenshots. But it's size is decreased dramatically.

Welcome!

I think before you install any mods, you should play the game and browse around... a bad download may affect the whole pc ! and... you want to leave your Addons folder with the default files (a mod within will combine weapons and single player will not be the same).

There are ways to cheat the game but not worth it (RC:damage=visibility)

Even though tanks are pretty much the same as RC mentioned, the most used are:
draconian
dwarf
destroyer

Hope you stay long!

That sounds about right Pablito, with the tanks and all. Unless you are like me (a hardcore modder) and make your own tanks every week to drive (trust me i do, some of them are not worth releaseing).

Any ways welcome to this large active community. :)

Hello and welcome.

The only mod that would give the server an issue is using a custom flag that is not on a server. This will cause oodles of error messages on the server side, slowing it down considerably, but it does allow you to play.

The VokLift site is a real good resource, you could also go here and I believe the packs listing has the 1.5 to 1.6 you may be looking for.

The only tank modified server I know of that isn't server side is Dinochrome which requires the Conan tank mod (Makes the stock Barbarian act like it looks) and a couple of non standard maps on rotation. There is a DinoPack for that server and it shouldn't any issues leaving it in your default installation.

There is also a short list of resources that I am aware of.

Welcome and good fragging.

THIS IS completly off topic but, in your sig killer the bumper sticker that said Keep honking im reloading would be perfect on the back of a tank... :)

My other car is a Sherman.
Tank drivers do it with Firepower
If you can read this, you're in ramdrill range
My child is the top fragger in elementary school
My child fragged your honor student
Nuke's are for lovers
Don't like my driving? Dial 1-800-EAT-NUKE

If I come up with more, I'll post em.

i also just got the game and i cant believe how awesome it is!!

i never heard of it until now.

i would like to ask a question though...

i have ver 1.6 and have downloaded most mods i can find.

i extracted each zip to the install path which is egames/ treadmarks.

they made addon folder and installed fine, however they wont show up in game in the menu.

is there something i'm missing? can someone help me? :(

Make sure there isn't a folder named Addons inside a folder named Addons Folder. Tread Marks will ignore anything in that second addons folder.

will do. so the game should automatically read the addons?

also, is there any limit to how many are installed in that directory?

thanks for answering!
