Hegemony 3: Unable to Start

I just purchased Hegemony 3 on Steam. After installation I click in the Heg 3 icon. This produces an error box "Exception caught 4", then another error box "Unknown Exception caught." then an offer to generate a dump file which I have done.

Note: I have Hegemony 1 which runs without problems.

What must I do to successfully run the game. Thank you for your time.

Sorry you're having trouble with the game. If you can send the dump file you created to rob@longbowgames.com I'll take a look and see if I can figure out what the problem is.
