I found out about this game recently played through the demo twice, Loved it
Was going to buy it until I found about this "gold version" After doing research finding about how you can play sandbox and theres diplomacy.

I was hooked (and still am!) Downloaded the gold demo tried it out. Loved it even more.

Now I want to get the gold version but people seem to be able to play it.
After playing the gold demo I can't go back to the orginal So is the gold version released yet or something

Please explain this to me somebody :) I'm look forward to this game!

The beta for Gold was open to anyone who owned vanilla PoM until a few weeks ago. They closed it in late December though. So that's what you see everyone playing, the beta. One of the devs said that they expect the full version of Gold to be released in early February (I forget where I read that, but it was somewhere in the forums).
