Ok, it's getting close to that time of year again, so it's time to start this topic.

For reference, here are the downloads for last year's server pack: http://www.ldagames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=556
the contents: http://www.ldagames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=550
and some more discussion: http://www.ldagames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=53

Like last year, i'm open to additions to the pack, in fact, I want to see some. And if you do have something to submit for the pack, please email it to me at the address in my profile with Holiday Pack mod in the subject line.

And I still have a mod idea that I want to add to the pack, but I need someone to make a model. If you have the skills, and are interested, please send me a private message.

Current ideas:

Gold Ribbon and Silver Ribbon: basically, a swarmer type weapon that trails a line of gold or silver sparks.

Ribbon Explosion: using the same spiral ribbon effect as the gold and silver ribbons, this would create a midair explosion of ribons that fire off randomly in all directions (think fireworks type).

Well, I am send my Bro...

lol, anyway, as the dutiful brother that i am: go here to this page:
[url]http://www.hallsted.org/</a>
and it all should be rather obvious what you want to download.
the DMF horror pack is there.
the xmas2005 mods are there.
and... i took the xmas2005 mod pack and added the penguin grenades to them. it's just not christmas without exploding penguins i say :)
and i called it the xmas2006 mod pack.

please though, send your suggestions to kv, like he asked. i'm sure you clever people will come up with some tasty things for this holiday season.

toodles,

Ok, I have the main components of the ribbons done, but I'm thinking: what if I turned the normal Swarmers, MRLs, Concussions, and one other weapon into these ribbons instead of a seperate weapon set?

Also, started working on the Ribbon Explosion - I hope Killer doesn't mind me pilfering his package mesh :D

Anyone want to test the Xmas Ribbon Pack?

http://treadmarks.vorklift.com/temp/xmas_ribbon_pack.zip

I didn't replace the default weapons per KV's request. There are 5 weapons:

Silver Ribbon: A swarmer
Gold Ribbon: A shotgun-type missile
Green Ribbon: A concussion
Red Ribbon: A MRL
Explosive Package: A sky-attack weapon that launches slightly altered versions of the silver, gold, green, and red ribbons.

RC, the xmas ribbon pack looks pretty cool.

it runs just fine. to test it, i added your ribbon pack to the xmas2006 mod pack that i have on the page i mentioned above, and everything worked fine together.

so i went ahead and added it to the download pack on that page.
the page [url]http://www.hallsted.org/</a>
the download about 4.1MB:
[url]http://www.hallsted.org/org-downloads/tm-mods-xmas-2006.zip</a>
it's got kv's xmas 2005 mod package, plus penguin grenades, plus rc's ribbons now.

it feels like xmas to me :) xmas trees, angels, snow storms, elves, presents, penguins, red and green nukes, and an awesome aerial ribbon display.

I have another one we can do:

Blizzard Strike

A modification of the air strike to replace the bomb icons with snowflakes and the explosions with snow effects.

What I'd like to do is replace all the original weapons with equivalently working xmas weapons.

I know KV has ideas for some, so if people could say what they are working on, thanks!

Harmless: My biggest concern about the ribbon pack is whether it will lag a server due to the use of ecocrud as a smoke trail. I can't really test it myself with a server due to my ISP not liking servers (in the contract). I can reduce the crud if it gives lag problems.

rc, i set up a server so that you can see what there is to see.
it's probably not the most ideal situation, since the tm server is
running on on my xandros linux computer using codeweavers crossover office. it plays fine on my lan ( i do have a spare win98se computer for TM )
it did momentarily lag in a couple of instances, but i don't think it was the ribbon pack... the couple of times i had the ribbon pack, it responded fine.
anyway...
to play one needs the mods.
these are the mods:
[url]http://www.hallsted.org/org-downloads/tm-mods-xmas-2006.zip</a>
let me know how it goes.

Nifty!!
Just out of curiousity---the Tannenbomb---does it actually DO anything besides rush off in a hurry? I've yet to see it detonate..

It has to hit something for it to detonate. Tis unguided, bouncy, but it packs a wallop... :D

Aside from the tree-strike, that would explain the glut of trees on the map!!!

Killer: once the christmas tree with presents is completed, you could make the presents bounce a couple times, make them detonate into nuke plasma balls that will set off in 1 minute! (or just detonate the tree to snow
