I just completed my first map. I'm currently testing it on the new server (Boomstick Alpha). Your all welcome to try it out. URL: http://24.191.89.63:16880/treadmarks/

Its back up now. I wasn't really finished with it last night, but gave up because TMapper kept locking up when I tried to save. I put a new video card in this morning(Radeon 8500, replacing my VooDoo3) and the problem disappeared. So, I finised the map off. WHich means anyone that grabbed it before the time of this message's posting, will need to re grab it. But its worth it!!!!

I just got thru playing... That is a cool map. Par's gonna love this one. He loves sinking buildings into craters with nukes. And this map has plenty of buildings.

It's funny to guide an AI in to a mailbox or flagpole!

Good job Killer, this map is definitely a step away from the ordinary.

Let me know if you would like a copy placed on TMMaps. Happy to add it to the rest of the user made maps. I have played it some and it is definitely fun.

I put it in the map master pack today, available thru the TreadMaps site. That makes a total of something like 64 maps or so.

PS I think Killer has the record for the largest map ever made. About 900Kb zipped, but its a shade under 5mb unzipped.

I was playing around with linking a spewer with a scuplture. it lets you chain additional entities. So, you can use a sculpture to chain a set of spewers which, using the launch coords (velocities set to 0) allows you to place anything, anywhere on the map.

I was going to try this with the fire hydrants to make them turn into water spouts when you run them over.

I havent tried it with race tank, but it may work. I've tried it with insignias (for the flag poles), they kinda worked but the flags were massive, and there was no way to scale them down.

Just added an upgrade to the map on my site.
http:24.191.89.63:16880/treadmarks/

This makes the fire hydrants blow up and spray water when you crash into them.

NOTE: I fixed a couple of the buildings so you wont pass through. For some reason, the 2 towers allows passage on 2 sides. Wierd.

Also, if you guys didn't notice yet, you can pass between the 2 posts of the billboard in on the North East corner of the unmirrored map. But.... You bounce off the leg posts themselves and no, it is only ONE mesh. (not 3).

The bug fix corrects the problem with passing through the legs at high speeds.

A quick synopsis:

Created a heightmap, created a triangle grid in Lightwave (256x256 segments @ 4x4 meters per segment). Used the heightmap as a displacement map in Lightwave. I then took the heightmap and rotated it 90 degrees, this became the final heightmap. I positioned the deformed grid in Lightwave so that 0,0 is north east corner. I then layed all the meshs out on the grid. After all was set, I wrote down each individual mesh's coords (flipping the sign of the z-coord). Then used the coords to position the meshs in TMapper.

Now to figure out how to make the buildings exploded.
