yup, just make a folder...or folders

TreadMarks\AddOns\entities\TankGod\sabot.ent
hope that helps

If you have TM1.5 (you just bought it) do _NOT_ use that super friction mod. If you're comfortable editing a text file, then try this :

Open c:\program files\tread marks 1.5\entities\tankgod\sabot.ent
and change the line that says

code:

friction=10

to

code:

friction=15

Kaeto is correct. The SuperFriction mod was created for the 1.0 version. 1.5 has higher friction in the base game settings so you shouldn't really need it...but feel free to try it. Frankly I like skidding tanks - makes it more fun to spin arround people

I like friction = 5 or so. It's WILD.

'course, I also like tanks with slow acceleration and high top speed. Anything for a challenge

thanks. i wasn't desperate, i was just wondering how to do it. i probably won't change it, but now i knowhow if i want to. I'd like to start making some of my own weapons, is it hard?

It's very easy. You can start by doing a few simple things :

Copy your entities folder to someplace safe outside your TM folder (_MUST_ not be anywhere in the TM folder)

Make a copy of one of the /weapons .ent files, and rename it.

Make a copy of one of the /projectile .ent files, and rename it.

Open each of them up, and change the name= line.

Start changing stuff.

There are also readme files in a lot of the entity folders that have info regarding to that type of entity.

I recommend using Tread Marks Edit for that.

Dreamer recommending not editing a file by hand? What is this?

You'll have to admit: TME is cool.

What is TME, exactly? This is the first I've heard of it?

Is it something easier than using notepad to juggle all the ent files? :-)

BlodBath also is working on a Tread Marks Editor but its not up for download yet. His editor will feature a full command reference (but doesn't describe the commands, just lists them).

Well, i have to be getting annoying by now, with all of these questions, but does anyone know if there is a list some where with tread marks clans. I was talking to a guy in the Matrix clan or something like that and he told me to join a game so we could DM, but he never made the game or something. i just want to try out clan life.

Save any altered "type=weapon" files in the entities/weapon dir.

Save any altered "type=projectile" files in the entities/projectile dir.

These are probably all you're going to be dealing with until you get used to editing the files. If you don't like a weapon delete it - or change it so you like it

As for clans, http://treadmarks.3d-unlimited.com/clans.shtml contains a 2-week outdated list of clans and members. It needs to be updated...several people have joined clans listed there.

thanks. this might be the last question for a while. what is the difference between projectile ent's and weapon ent's? and oh yeah, is it possible to edit or create maps???

The weapon ent is the weapon that you pick up while playing. Its use to define the mesh, texture, amount of ammo and what projectile it will fire.

The projectile ent is for creating what actually leaves the weapon and hits the target.

Well, im sure it's a big surprise, but I have another question. How do you get trophies in ladder mode? I'm just wondering how I stand next to everyone elses skills here, but what rank is everyone on the ladder. Im ranked 72nd and I got the game only a few days ago.

That would probably be better posted in the main TM forum, as more people read that one...
