I need to install linux, and was told to "boot off the cd"? There are 4 cds do I just reset with one of them in the cd-rom drive. Sorry for all the questions, I"m a total newb to linux.

I put a cd in it and now it won't even eject, what kind of operating system is this?!!!

Assuming the cd's are numbered then you would start the machine up with the #1 cd in the cd drive. If you power the machine on and press the eject button on the cd drive it should come out. Hope that helps.

i know i'm a little late to this post, but
the easiest way to boot off a cdrom is to
change the boot order in the BIOS.
if you need more details, just let me know.
once you boot off the cd and install linux,
then you need to go back into the BIOS and
change the boot order again so that it boots
off the hard drive.
i have done this a number of times and it
works pretty well.

Wow...my bro knows stuff...this is scary...infact I go to him for most of my computer questions...too lazy to figure it out myself...love you harmless...

The cd has to be bootable too m8, the win95 one wouldnt do it....

And i think you have to use the lilo boot program that linux installs, i dont think bios will boot into an unformatted partition when its primary is fat32. (i could be wrong)
