sounds like the first time i played TM too, Denise! i like Wulfram's idea of having a learning server - if you or anyone else is ever interested, let one of us know & we can meet you online to show you the ropes in TM. also, just let the other players know that you're new - most will be glad to help you out. ...up to a point, it helps to practice against the AI's in single player, too - to get a better feel for the game. *sigh* Hi Denise. Keep in mind that even with three personas, guido is only ~1% of the TM community. He is best taken with a salt lick.IP: |

are you kiddin Denise ??? thats a really good score . especially considering how new you are . and please excuse weatherman for he knw's not what he says . i have suggested that coax check out the ip's of the others , and i will be vindicated . i only post as guido .... the fun loving killer pimp from the movie " Risky Buisness " . don't worry about the death count so much , no one at the DDM's does . i wish that the deaths were subtracted from the frags , then you'd get the real winners .------------------ Trying is the first step towards failure ... the DDM totals would be much simplified in a manner like : 30 frags - 28 deaths = 2 . that would change the ladder signifigantly . just my 2 pence .------------------ Trying is the first step towards failure ... Guido the mercy killer . IP: |

Hoot! Then spawn fragging would become a mortal sin instead of merely a venal sin.IP: |

i refrain from spawn fragging , unless it's done to me . then i do the same to the perpetrator . the golden rule you see . i'm not much of a camper , i'll leave that to the ctf players .------------------ Trying is the first step towards failure ... Guido the mercy killer . IP: |

Yep. Wulfram II is a great game. I'll testify to that. I've played it for about 2 years now (it is somewhat old... but that's a good thing. more on that in a sec)It's just as unique as TM is (if not more). It's basically TM with strategy sewn into it. And that's a good thing. The strategy doesn't really interfere with the game and get rid of first person combat. It simply gives the smarter guy the advantage... essentially the whole goal of the game is to destroy the enemey's base(s) and tanks (the bases have the spawn-points in them. there is a 60 second timeout after you die before you can respawn. ) Of course, as you have all mentioned, wulfram is an old game. the game we're talking about is wulfram II (it had better graphics and gameplay, etc. wulfram I is long gone. wulfram 2 used to be known as shockforce before it's host, iEN pulled the plug on it. the developers set up their own servers and renamed it wulfram II.) Wulfram II being an old game may actually be a GOOD thing for 56k users. First of all, the game was written with 28.8 users in mind. Thus, a complicated system of vector-based movement and slightly guided weapons was implimented. This makes playing over a 56k line bearable (when it was released, cheap dsl didn't exist. The graphics are... um.... fair; but it's the gameplay that matters (the developers are independent, just like longbow. they don't have very deep pockets.). If you happen to own a voodoo 1, 2, or 3 (no 4 or 5), you can play the game in glide, which looks quite nice(similar quality to TM). Direct3d support is being worked on and is in the near future. As with the old pc thing, it works on EVERY operating system over win95 (95 98 me 2000pro xp (i have personally tested these. i have no clue about nt, though. but who uses that to play games?)). It also will run (slowly) on a p-200 and anything above that. a p2-366 runs great. it hits a bottleneck around 600mhz, and wont run much better on anything more then that in software mode. in glide, voodoo3 users have gotten as high as 200fps at high quality (the framerate counter stops at 200... the developers never really anticipated that). Anyhow. I'd reccomend wulfram to anybody who likes tread-marks, or people who liked it, but wanted more strategy. Highly highly reccomended. 56kers (i use a 56k. i know how you feel) download it before you go to bed, and in the morning, you have wulfram II. ahhhh nice!
important note of caution: download the zip file version instead of the exe as long as you're comfortable installing things from a zipfile (ie. you have to set up your own shortcuts). a bunch of people (me included) have had problems with the .exe installer not working. (it simply doesn't install.) have fun (final note... denise didn't coach me. i found this by myself by accident. funny coincidence, huh?) IP: |

Q: if I setup a fed site on DMF for wulfram, are there enough people/clans to make it work - and would you like a gameforum on DMF ? - If so take a look at existing dmf pages and note the types of links and categoty's - if you send me relevant active links i'd be happy to support the game.IP: |
