We were moving our refridgerator tonight and I mistakenly left a bottle of Berry Weise in the fridge and it broke. The smell wafted through the house and my son (Tiger) came out and said "is someone making fruit juice?" lol

I'll back Sage up somewhat.I don't really care if you say GD(I say it when I'm really, really, really pissed) but I know there are some that are underage and frequent this BBS.Believe the same standards you expect in the game should be standards for the board too. Some people consider GD to be the worst cuss word of them all.I'm sure if some of these teenagers mothers' read it they wouldn't be happy.Just to clarify..I wasn't offended.IP: |

Make your own!Moderator - please change the name of this topic to "Gosh-diddily-Darn!" and maybe move it to the General board. Moderator- Also please don't give up on beer. Try something dark (amber really)- the flavor difference is remarkable! I never could understand how ppl could drink american standard beers. For me, the best things about Bud and its kin are price and drinkability (not palatability)- that is, you can drink a lot of it in a sitting without getting full-feeling or broke. Makes it good for parties, woo-hoo!. Stay away from stouts or bocks until you get really hooked on malty/hoppy goodness.

Can't change the name of a topic to my knowledge. But, I can move it to the general forum. Do you know of any brand of beers that would taste good to a beer newbie? Don't call me moderator or you'll make me use the coax LWA name since it doesn't say administrator -=Topic moved to General Forum upon Weatherman's request=- IP: |

To begin your Oddessy of Beer, you should go to a local brew pub and try one of their samplers. Alternatively, go to a grocery store or beer store that lets you mix and match and create your own sampler (also good so you are not stuck with a 6 of something you just don't like). Don't be afraid to ask someone at a good liquor store for advice on what to try. You should try at least one from each of these groups: Brown Ales(Fat Tire or NewCastle) Stouts (ie. Guiness) Pale Ales (Sierra Nevada, or Bass) Wheat Beer aka Heffewiezen (<-misspelled!)(Blue Moon, Paulaner, or Spaten) Pilsners (a type of lager - most american beers are pilsner style lagers) If you are crazy, try something like a bock or porter (heavy) or a fruit flavored beer (Purple Haze is a yummy raspberry wheat beer from Abita in Louisiana). My Favorite: Fat Tire Amber Ale by New Belgium Brewing Co.. It is absolutely yummie. A similar import that is prolly in your area (if Fat Tire is not) is NewCastle Nut Brown Ale. A good mexican is Negro Modelo by Cerverceria Modelo (good with lime and enchiladas!). Dark on a budget: Michelobe Dark, J. Dundees Honey Brown. St. Pauli Girl Dark, Heinieken Dark, and Becks dark are all good and fairly similar. You should try Sierra Nevada Pale ale, too. If you like that, you are a hop-head! It is good stuff but some like more malt than hopps. Hope I don't come off as a beer snob! Best thing to do is find your favorite sty of beer and then try different brands until you find a nice balance between price and flavor. Don't Drink and Drive Any suggestions from the other beer lovers? Edit: You could als try a Sam Adams Sampler or a Pete's Wicked Sampler - there is good beer to be had there.

I'm starting to like Guiness after flitting between being sick of it and trying to acquire this taste for the stuff.. but it doesn't go down as well without the clover tapped on on the head... nice!!Tennents Velvet is rich when it's poured correctly, but I've had shocker cases, surprisingly when I was in Newcastle.. the bar maid just poured my velvet straight in at 90 degreess.. man... frothy and thick. yeuch!! But if Bud Ice or Miller is on offer in my old work, I tend to sway towards them if it's not for the JD!!! ------------------ Lemon Curry?!?! IP: |

This is an old thread - and I don't expect many to read this response - but I was purposely avoiding it until now because I was irritated by the title... This is about as good a community as there is. But nevertheless, let anyone stand up for any sort of values, Christian or otherwise, and all sorts of people come out of the woodwork to mock, ridicule or otherwise make fun of... including Coax. Not viciously, but the intent is clear. Just a few points: Grind: I must admit that you are not right. Somehow, perhaps it's a mystery, the first words that come to my mind when I'm impressed by something are not expletives. Seeing how "every other man" says those words, it may be that I'm a freak of nature. Though I do appreciate your half-hearted attempt at an apology. Cell: Your suggestions to Sage indicate a distinct lack of awareness of how blissfully ignorant you are of the Christian religion. My prayers that your condition may be relieved are all good and well. But as it is pointed out in the Bible, to pray for a hungry man is less important than handing him the bread that is in your hand: 1)Politely requesting that God's name not be taken in vein can in no resonable way be considered a claim to piety. Your response is similar to that of a child who is told not to say a bad word and responds with something like "Oh, and now you're little Miss Perfect". The child has missed the point and instead goes on the offensive. 2)The concept of turning the other cheek is not a directive to be a doormat. In fact, in case you were not aware, Jesus himself said (paraphrasing) that he came to bring the sword - NOT peace. Turning the other cheek refers to forgiving the offender and not taking vengence. But while we shouldn't take vengence, we should do everything in our power to prevent the act in question from happening again. Hence, a simple and polite request from Sage. Even if Cell's smiley face indicates he was attempting humor, it still makes light of the request. And turning someone's serious request into a joke can be a clever way to argue against it - because the natural defense is "lighten up, he was only kidding". Kidding or not, our culture is entirely too comfortable with taking God's and Jesus's name in vein. On the other hand, let a security guard at a mall say the opposite with "God Bless" during the Christmas season and the scum bags from the ACLU file lawsuits faster than Supe frags in a DDM. IP: |

not to make light of your views there is a response to folks who say 'GD' all to often, surprisingly it works fairly well to reduce the occurence. all you have to do is accuse them of praying again. (well it is a rather short prayer).IP: |

"Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."Last time I checked, I didn't see anything in there about first, second or third person grammatical issues. It seems rather obvious that you're not damning God. I'm can't fathom how you went in that direction with your reasoning. But I appreciate the explanation anyway. If you really want to get technical, that commandment is an admonishment to Christians to not take his name, and take on his name, lightly. We take on Christ's name by calling ourselves Christians - and we are not to do so unless we believe it and are commited. It may be argued that you were not breaking the third commandment by using his name as a curse word - since you make no claim to his name. However, as you so correctly pointed out, the way you used it was a curse. If you're damned by God than you are certainly cursed. Obviously, it's objectionable to some to use his name in a flippant manner while cursing. If you can't see why that is objectionable - then just imagine all the "(fill in the blank) Anti-Defamantion Leagues" that would crawl out of their holes if someone dared say the equivalent of AllahDamn or VishnuDamn in a movie or some other mass media. Amen. Word. [This message has been edited by Irascible (edited January 28, 2002).] IP: |

ok I think maybe this is an age old argument and no1 will convince anyone else of their sides! I can see both sides and understand them but I don't think you lot are making much sense to each other... you're just strengthening your position in the argument. This was an innocent thread and Grind did apologise to the people that might've taken offense and I assume they might've taken it a little more understandably! It was a full apology as he was just only justifying his acion. And Ras has justified Sage's point and pointing out where Sage and Ras stand in this, seemingly irrelevant topic for this threads inentention. But we know now that there more serious thoughts to cinsider and we will hopefully all respect them. Grind and myself talk all the time and I know he's a very reasonable guy and does not make a habit of that so, Ras, I assure you and I put myself in his shoes, that it was meant to be innocent and am sure the apology was more than half-hearted! ------------------ Feck it... i'd rather see the conversation back on what is really important .... BEER . post some more cool links i enjoy the virtual tours . religion is like politics and there will never be agreement . BTW for so many christians to almost say " don't use the Lords name in vain ..... or i'll kill ya " seems a little over the edge . Christ on a crutch lets argue about the suds , not religion . hehehhhe . fun .------------------ Trying is the first step towards failure ... Guido the mercy killer . IP: |
