Hey, know anything about creating a terrain like the one used
in Treadmarks? See my other post.

I think there are lots of people tracking this board, including myself, but no-one posts anything.

Lithium: You should read the roam paper and the Rottger paper (Called ""Real-Time Generation of Continuous Levels of Detail for Height Fields"). A search with www.google.com will probably give you a hit. The archives for this board also contains lots of info specificly about TM.

Sorry, but I don't want to use LOD. And I've read those papers before.
If it took a couple of scientists with PhDs hired by the government to
come up with an algorithm like that, then I absolutely have no hope in
understanding it myself anyway without any bit of code.

I'm hoping someone can specifically answer my questions. Please read
my post if anyone would like to help me out.

You're absolutely right, and I'm beginning to take the hint.

Can someone suggest another bulletin board that is devoted to
the discussion of terrain development? Quadtrees, heightmaps,
texturing, etc..

I am not looking for game sites that talk about it in general
once in a blue moon, I need a place where there is an active
and long-going disussion happening.
