Bryan or someone else,I have made a little figure, where I have tried to explain what I am asking for. The split decision function is based on the distance to the quad divided with the edge-lenght of the quad. If we take the height in account, there is not bound between neighbors or what. I mean, two neighbors can have very difference distance, since the height can vary "unbounded".
I have made a figure: http://www.convex.dk/quadtree.html
Keep up the cool work anyway.
