you know modded maps will only work if you have enough folks...I would guess high teens would be OK...but you need 20 to 30 folks. I guess that is why I am against the 5 player per clan rule. You need more player per clan or more clans. Yes, I know the problems when you dont have enough folks on a large maps with lots of spawn points. something to think about. IP: |

I'm not opposed to the clan maps and Pablo, you should download them, they're pretty slick.I am also not opposed to three member teams; I'm happy to host overflow on my server and run clan maps there as well. Of course, it would bar me from playing in the official clan battles. IP: |

I'll be trying to find something with a little more bandwidth before the next one.I think it might be possible to get something if I can get some people a few friends of mine work for to go in on it and provide some business grade bandwidth. It wouldn't really be asking that much to host a couple of hours every Sunday I don't think but who knows.Theres also some free stuff out there if you can deal with ads and connecting thtough something like Gamespy offers.I'd rather try to find something faster than change the setup unless we have to.Just my opinion. Though I remember going through this excact same thing a few times before without any luck. IP: |

IF i can get access to this newly installed 50 meg line in the town (for education purposes) ill host a server up there, but there would be no weekend access. Its a M-F thing so any setups would have to be final by Thursday so i can implement and reset things Friday.Thats a big IF mind you.... (working on it) IP: |

Vortex TB: Why? (hosting overflow): quote: Of course, it would bar me from playing in the official clan battles.??
WHY would that stop you to play?? Aren't Sailor's maps... modded... and aren't they ready for download at Vortex's site? 666, don't worry about the number of participants... we didn't get high tens yesterday, but 22+... and 4 players missing... + another player left = 27!!!!!!!! How you love that? IP: |

Pab, I would have to play locally because my bandwidth would get eaten by the connections to my server.IP: |

If he plays on his own server (local), his ping would most likly be zero, this can be a huge advantage over connecting client IP's.Also, if anyone interested in mountain dew artwork, i can pass your details onto buggy riphead who designed the posters Just a thought. IP: |

Did anyone check the server log?It also would be interesting to see the timing information TM spits out in the top textarea of the server window. It may help you in your quest to reduce lag. The only otehr suggestion I can give is to have LDA snoop packets from the server to see if there are any resends happeneing. Also, LDA runs other servers on that machine. It can also be a virus or pehapse some other piece of software they are running. [This message has been edited by KiLlEr (edited September 27, 2004).] IP: |

SO: 5 players per clan per battle!!!! IS IT DONE!!! already.?So, are modded maps the solution for the battle or are we going to wait 3 days before it and say: ok! half the clans don't move for 15 minutes while the other ones frag us and then viceversa! (that may actually work). I wonder what is more complicated, dividing the event in two days or make everyone download modded stuff??.... I'm just wondering.... (I definetely want to play the modded maps now, though). ***Don't forget to tune in Thrusday 9:00pm Eastern to the first Presidential Debate***** (mhhh... that may actually be a good thread....) hehe, I know a dude that may get excited for it .... then again.. Pab, I'd die on the vine trying to get out if enough people played and they wouldn't enjoy the lag I created trying to get out. My circuit is only 768/768 ADSL and telco won't remove the 960' of bridge tap they introduced six months ago which dropped my through put to the 6's because their policy is a minimum of 1,000' to remove. Hence the 960' of tap added. Matrix, actually it sits on my development LAN and I play through an alternate router installed on the LAN; ping is usually steady at 100. The server is nice except for the video which is PCI (what does a server need an expensive video card for?). I do other tinkerings using VMWare and TM never notices.
