In this case I did give the IP and port to Ras, as he seems to be "acting clan leader" for BWL. Given I know that BWL has more difficulty in organizing things, I might be inclined to also share the IP with Sailor, Par, glo, RexR and Melon, their 6 players (so you guys DO have to talk to figure which 5 are playing!). I don't plan on sharing the IP and port with others, however, as the other clans seem to have a designated leader.[This message has been edited by Blue n Gold Sue (edited September 18, 2004).] IP: |

Personally i would prefer clan maps, but its ultimately not my decision - we do need to know about 4 days b4 the event though so that our members can locate and download the pack.I designate the following members from DNX to be given the IP. BamZipPow[AVP] and Coaxs[VP] They will only share the details once we have decide which 5 players are attending and announce the list either here or on our clan forum in plenty of time. IP: |

Can we please go with each step at a time:* Team pack link is working, tanks Matrix * Is new IP# working? * Is the Flag pack ready yet? and where is the link? * Will there be 4 or 5 players per team for this clan battle? ** It seems a little late to implement clan maps, not that I'm not interested in trying them... but... can we get organized before throwing more potatoes in the stew?.. we need the meat first...(don't know where that came from)...

Well I am glad that we tested the server and the flags because there were some problems. The port works, but I forgot to call out the additional teams in the dedicated.cfg file due to the 8 additional flags. Got LDA to relaunch the server today. All the new flags show up but now the cat flag did showed up white. I fixed that but I would like LDA to relaunch the server again to verify the cat banner comes through. Sooooo.......you will have to wait till the server is relaunched. I want to make sure that the flags all show up. As for the FL, you will get the gray flag that unescapable wanted. This is not the pack that Matrix did. That would not have all the clan flags in them. But without his help we would have not solved the clan banner problem. Thank you for your patience. IP: |

Thats right, the 15 teams pack and the master flag pack are 2 completely different downloads...Maybe its time they were combined though, whats everyone think ? Itll reduce the number of files ppl have to locate for sure... IP: |

Yes, combine them (especially if they work)... our CAT flag had a bitmap resolution problem, it needs to be saved under 256 colors... but I already sent the newer version to RC... unless he didn't give it to you; I'll e-mail you another one tonight. Thanks!

I say keep them seperate. That way someone can run a 15 team server without being required to use the clan flags.@ Matrix: the "clan flag pack" and the "master flag pack" are not the same files. They were made into seperate packs for a reason and should remain that way. IP: |

Talking about lag issues... am I wrong or LDA is on the same server as the hidden clan battle server.... If it is, why can you take down LDA for the hour or so while clan battle is ocurring? Wouldn't that take out some of the lag??...

@ PabsNo i didnt make it, kinda cool though huh - showed up during a search for sumthin TOTALLY different, so i bagged it in the belief youd like it. Also, taking down LDA prolly would help, but i cant see Jim being in the office on sunday evening to do it for us IP: |

Well, as server administrators can't they restrict all users to log in to LDA... or even better, make it hidden... They don't need Jim for that.. do they?IP: |

Pablo,Clearly you don't understand some of the vagueries of the WAN and security; first, providing access to the outside from a system behind a firewall isn't to be done willynilly. VPN is your first choice, but that adds all kinds of bog to the VPN host and usually gives the end user a gray hair or two. Second, there is the issue of what remote client to use; VNC, RemoteDesktop, pcAnywhere, LapLink, what have you. Then their is the even larger issue of giving out an Administrator password or even a std user password on a system that is quite probably doing more than just running TM server. Stop picking on LDA for what they are providing for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! And let the others who have graciously dedicated their time do the work that they are doing. It will get done quicker without extra kibitzing. IP: |

I'm not picking on LDA, I'm actually trying to bring up ideas to eliminate lag, that's all... ideas.. concepts.... sorry for any incovenience. IP: |

I'm more than grateful for playing on TM... that's why I'm into it... "asking you find Rome"... or something like that... don't take my input erroneously... or output for that matter...IP: |

iirc lda has a contract to run a stock server. this would preclude shutting it down other than for unusual probs and or comp maint. even running a 'clean' server runs into probs when you approach 30 playersIP: |

just a reminder of the clan battle this Sunday...get the new clan flag pack here. http://www.hallsted.org/org-downloads/clan_team_flags.zip Would suggest that you make an addon folder just for the clan battle that will not have the HQ addon. Lots of tanks will slow down your graphics. I would also advise folks to delete the old clan battle flag pack. It is only 5 bmp files. See this thread for the location. /forums/archive/ubb/Forum2/HTML/004167.html It is about 19 post down on where the 5 bmp files are. Make sure you have the hidden port address. That's all. IP: |
