Author Topic:   Should we move the Sunday event up to get the Euro Crowd?

Well, this is a serious question. We may need to think about moving the Sunday event up to accommodate the Euro players. Currently it is 1 AM in the morning for England. Way to late for them to play. I am thinking that maybe we need to move it up 4 hours.

That would put it at:
1 PM Pacific Time
4 PM Eastern Time
9 PM UK Time

Yes, I want to get players at these events. We need to rethink what we are doing.

Well, Evil-Zippy is online now, I dare say that time will suit him fine - for me however, i can only make that time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the rest of the week is a no-go .... then we have the remaining uk players... the ones i know about anyway - i think we number 6 or 8 maximum ...

This might work with winter coming up, but in the summer I would have to say no way. Cant give up my sunday afternoons for a computer game. IMHO.

I know that it would break the day up for the US crowd. But it has been unfair for the Euro players that they cannot compete in the ranked events.

Moving the time up from 8PM Eastern time to 4PM Eastern time would finally allow the Euro crowd to parttake in the ranked events.

And we need to get more players at these events.

I had that talk with Susan already. Can't get enough players to attend even one event.

We need to stick to one...besides...I want to frag the Euro crowd.

I am not sure that you would need to move it up four hours actually, but I can deal with that if everyone else prefers it.

Trying to pick a time that is not at a meal time and not yet bedtime for the younger players. The current time is only good for the US and Canadians.

Matrix...could link this to the DMF forum to see what they all think about it?

When you have a set time, let me know via ICQ to change the event entry on LogScan.

Don't want to mess that up again.

Killer, That presumes that a change is inevitable, and I personally am not sure it is.

Cyber, that is true. A change has not been made yet. It is very unfair for the Euro players to never compete in the ranked events.

I do know that changing the time will cause some of the US player to have to drop out, but I am hoping that the gain of the Euro players will more than make up for the difference.

I really do not want to rush this. I would like to see what is the outcome before the next clan battle. Therefore the next 3 Sunday events will be at the current time of 8PM Eastern.

I will ICQ players to get more input.

After a couple of weeks I will do the tally to see what people think.

Moving it has a better chance for me in the Winter. Summer - no way.

IF I had my druthers, I'd keep it at 5 pm pacific. 1 pm is smack dab in the middle of the day and would not be great for days where we wanted to get out and DO something. I would not mind the change, however, IF a number of players from europe could attend. Ni, Grind and Click, Dreamer, Some of the Dogs... would this help YOU?

Guys, even moving it up two hours would make it 11:00 their time. That would be a much better time for them, maybe not as good as four hours would, but keep it from being quite so early here in the states. That would make it 3:00 for Pacific, 4:00 for Mountain, 5:00 for Central, 6:00 For Eastern, and 11:00 in London (Not sure what that area is called, unless it is also GMT). That to me sounds like a reasonable compromise to at least talk about.

What if we rotate? One month is 7pm CST, the next month 5pm CST?

The problem I see there might be in remembering which it was that month.

I am amenable to that. All it takes is a calendar, which Joey has on treadmarks.boomstick.com Alternating months only means more annoying ICQ messages, but those are easy enough to do.
IF you want to be reminded of things, make sure I have your ICQ number. Message ME and I will add you. 163308634

so we need to see what the Euro crowds prefer...11 PM or 9 PM GMT.

So, Ni, Matrix, Blandy, Grind n' Click, Red Dog, Bonzo Dog, Dreamer, Herc, and who else needs to have a vote in this.

Still would like to settle this before the next clan battle.

666, you forgot to include the 1 am time as well as the idea of the rotating schedule.
