Normally 2000 to 3000 download and around 500 upload. This is on Cable.

And Corpe, you have something seriously wrong. Cable should be at least 500 download. I wouldn't be giving them any more money until you see numbers like that.

1.67 megabits down and 252 kilobits up

Though in the case of online gaming, isn't ping a better indicator of success? A dial-up with good ping is better than DSL with bad ping. I tried the other cable internet provider in this area once. Despite good bandwidth, latency issues made TM unplayable.

Much as i hate to agree with the annoyed one, he is right, sine my ping dropped to 200 with DSL installed my success on the field of battle has jumped somewhat since i am now able to aim properly with the mass among other lagless traits.

Satellite is a no-go fer serious gaming. Just so you know about that up front.

Do you have any other comps? Do they have the same probs?

Are you hooked up through a router/switch? If so, try bypassing the router/switch and hooking directly to the modem...

666, I have cable and get pings <200 on most servers.

It really depends on your provider and the number of hops to the TM server.

17.2 MBit down / 130 up
Comcast intentionally cut the upload in half from around 320 before; they want to sell the rest as a business feature.
They also changed their billing in our area from in arears to in advance. I just cut them a check for half of what they ask for; f'km.
I need static IPs so I'm going to have to change to DSL which will probably bring my ping up over 100 and hurt my game.
Of course, since I suck anyway, nobody will notice.

Puh-lease Vor. You don't suck, at least not on your own server. Maybe on other servers you bite, but I wouldn't know about that specific situation since I tend to think of everyone that way. LOL!

And Devil! You misunderstood. I said the OTHER cable service sucked. We have Astound and Comcast cable internet providers out here - in addition to all the dial-up and DSL providers. Astound's service was awful. Comcast's is awesome. I hate to say that because a hate Comcast. When it was ATT@Home I was getting six megabits a second from Yahoo servers in San Jose for under $40 a month! Then @Home went bust. ATT took over and capped it at 1.5 megabits for around $45 a month. Then ATT got bought by Comcast. Comcast raised prices by 30 percent and didn't give one d@mn thing extra in return. Oh freaking well. If there were another provider that had Comcast's awesome service then I'd go with it. But a year ago there wasn't even a dozen people on my Comcast node. So Comcast is it for now.
