Glad to hear from you coax and Sue.

I'd also like to hear from GA, Corpse, Ras, JV and Kong. You are the family members I *believe* live in California, although I'm not sure if that's correct, and if so - where. We have a number of new players, and they may live in the region too, so we'd like to hear from you as well.

I think Melon Cracker lives in Southern California too, but I'm not sure.

Melon is Texas, IIRC.
Ras, GA#1, Corpse, JVortex, and Kong are all northern California, so they should all be fine. In fact, 666 saw Ras on the servers, I saw GA#1 on ICQ earlier, and Kong, of course posted here. JVortex is Sacramento, I believe, and I have family up there (more North than I am) and all is fine in those parts.
Thanks for your concern Synack.

You mean Melon is here in Texas? Hmmm, I guess that means Texas has a bigger contingent than I thought, (I could only think of three of us.)

Sue, it's a combination of things that stirs my concern when "things" happen.

Losing my best friend on 9/11 has forever changed me
Having two children in college, many miles and hours away from where I can protect them as I could when they were young (don't need to tell you about that protective instinct)
working for a company in a capacity where I interact with colleagues around the world, and the sometimes terrible things that happen in their countries

sometimes I wish I didn't know them all. It makes international situations become all too personal.

Trust me, I understand. That is why I appreciated it AND let you know where the others were, too. You can rest your mind and only worry about your kids (you mean my concern won't get better with time?)

In some respects, they get better. In other respects, they just change and become different concerns. It's just part of the price we pay for being parents.

The ideal situation is to CHOOSE to be a parent. Do not tempt fate, if you know what I mean. Be responsible in your actions.

My two kids (aged 18 and 21), both in college, are terrific, positive, creative, energetic, intelligent and loving individuals. The world would be a lesser place without them.

I gladly accept the ongoing support role required to raise them and introduce them to you.

to tempt fate would be stupid as, if i remember correctly, the odds are AGAINST you not with you.

by the way, you DO remember that I'm not even 15 yet, right? I'm not twisted enough to take a chance NOW...

Glad to hear that, Scrap.

Sadly, it isn't the case in many instances.

Hi,

Uh Earthquake? Which one, they are kind of common in California.
I was moving so the only thing I'm sure about breaking was the filmaments in light bulbs at the old apartment and the scratch I put in the new would floor in my office.
One of my associates lives near BigBear, I'll have to see if he came out ok.
I didn't hear anything when I checked in with my boss.
Server closet too small, may have to break out my designer's eraser (sawzall) and make the closet bigger. Don't know if I can do that by the eod tomorrow though, may have to stuff everything in and just make it work.
Too tired to read through whole post, but I think JVortex is in TX, as is MelonCracker.
Hope all in Central California made it, but I didn't even hear anything in the news. But then my TV is in a box.
Don't know if this will work outside of the LA area, but earth quakes are so common, most new web sites have pages just for them. http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/news/022403_NW_QUAKE.html
Oh, this is Vortex the Barabrian checking in to say we made it.

I'm not too sure how i left myself open, or what i left myself open to for that matter. i'm too fried from school now to try to figure it out

i do have one suspicion but i think i just left that open to be interpreted however anyone wanted to. it could be something else though

please enlighten me and then i say we should get off this gloomy subject.

t'would seem they all are (ok). Thanks to appropriate dieties.

This thread has my blessings to drift off into never-never archive status ....
