Hello, and welcome to the TM community!

Here's my take on clans. Others will surely chime in (and try to recruit you!)

Clans are groups of TM players who associate under one 'flag' if you will, or one team.

They fight together as one army when we have 'clan' events. Many events are not clan events, and players are on their own.

You don't have to belong to a clan if you don't want to, but then you're not really eligible to play in clan events. That's where the LWA (Lone Wolves Alliance) comes into play. LWA is the "clan that is not a clan." (ducks incoming pie from Matrix)

LWA members get together for clan events only, but otherwise are simply lone wolves.

Me? I'm a lone wolf. I was in LWA back when it was new and had no rules (basic premise of the clan back then), but then a few teeny tiny little rules kinda-sorta crept in, and I'm not following anyone's rules but my own so I bailed. But, that's my choice. You make yours.

I didn't really provide an eloquent description of clans, but like I said, others will surely chime in with their thoughts.

Again, welcome, and look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

You mean a clan is like a team, only for more than 1 game?

*sneaks up behind synack*

*smacks key lime pie into back of head and smears down back*

*bursts into tears because he has ruined a perfectly good key lime pie*

not exactly sure how, but i will take your word for it that you insulted LWA. since i recently applied for membership, i finished the job

a clan is kind of like a group of fragging buddies. clan members often stick up for each other (although i wouldnt expect it with the Lone Wolf Alliance, cause thats what it is, a mutually beneficiary alliance between people who would otherwise frag eachother) and form a small community. its hard to explain here because TMs few players already form a community. take starcraft for example. the hundreds of thousands of players barely speak to each other. but, there are literally hundreds of clans (a cource of unending spam. i hate spambots!) themembers of which are friendly and play games with eachother regularly. they range from small groups of friends created by individual people to hugely successful clans with hundreds of members that hold auditions so that only the best players join. the only real point of a TM clan is to play clan battles.

HEY! your not new! you have 15 posts!

Some one is trying to pull your leg Avatar. CLAN stands for Cooperating Libraries Automated Network. It is is Rhode Island's public library consortium. See our website HERE .

A few of our librarians got bored one day (now that was redundant) and decided to actually read some of the drivel we lend out to students... that is, if we can pull the students away from their library computer porn for five minutes - free speech... yada, yada, yada. Anywho, a couple of our librarians read up on computer programming and began development of this game. The rest is history.

It use to be that we only let Rhode Islanders play in CLAN events. But being such a small state, that quickly became impractical. So instead we only ask that you tattoo the Rhode Island state motto somewhere on your body. It's recommended that you don't tattoo too close to any private parts because having the word "Hope" in that vicinity may convey an unintended message. If you can't afford a tattoo artist, we'll mail you a small branding iron free of charge. Don't forget to rub the area with alcohol first.

Rhode Islanders... we're small but proud!

Count on Ras to provide a purely non-related piece of information to someone who is new and wanting good information. Take synack's explanation and you are good to go.
LOL - nice one Ras (where do you come up with these things). Nicely thought out option

Hey welcome. If you want a list of current TM playing clans, take a gander at: http://www.dnxworld.homestead.com/clans.html
For those of you new to LWA you may want to e-mail Matrix to get your names on the clan list. Mind you, it is not necessary, but it is nice to refer to if you are trying to find someone's affiliation.
Some clans are for just one game, like BWL and GA. These clans just play TM. Other clans support more than one game. Depending on your clan, you may possible be able to be a member of one clan for one game and another clan for a different game.
The ultimate goal, in my opinion, is to have fun. If you aren't having fun then you need to think about your affilation. I forsee no problems, but just want you to know that nothing is permanent, except for that tattoo that Ras suggested. I don't recommend it myself

And that relates to clans in the TM community in what way Ras? My point exactly. However, congrats to Scrap and Max and to all proud Rhode Islanders for having the Vermont Teddy Bear as their idea. LOL

I'm sure someone here owns a Vermont Teddy Bear. If not, I know they've used the library computers.

Avatar, as you might have noticed some of us are a little silly, you might even say that some of us are borderline nuts (and I don't excuse myself from that last one.)
