well, it's a new year, my brother, 666 has a bunch of new maps; so i decided to change how my server is setup.

i will make the change over on new years day. that being january 1st, 2003.

go to this page, top link is the new server addons one will need to play on the "hallsted i am" server
http://www.hallsted.net/tm-homage-harmless.html

or... this is the direct link to download the "hallsted i am" addon server pack
http://www.hallsted.net/treadmarks/Hallsted-Server-Pack.zip

it is a larger file... 16.3MB in size zipped.

what it has are all 24 of the clan maps that my brother redid, and it has 6 maps that sailor has done, and the 3 modded weapons that i like....

my only problem is that i have a slower upstream bandwidth limitation, [so much for having cable] [[my average upstream is around 140kbps ]]. thus, i have limited the number of tanks to 10, of which only 5 human players can join in at any one time. at least it should remain playable if 5 humans actually connect at one time.

if anyone cares, a copy of the dedicated.cfg file is also on my page here
http://www.hallsted.net/tm-homage-harmless.html

and... if anyone still cares, here is the map list that will be in rotation... all 33 of them.

[[by sailor]]
DM Arminto
DM Ashton
DM Stillwater
DM Ground Zero
Sulfur Springs
DM Arminto Valley

[[by my bro 666]]
Clan Banks
Clan Barren Lake
Clan DM Black Mesa
Clan Bull
Clan Clay Hills
Clan Deer Hunter
Clan DM Didgeridoo
Clan Gravitor
Clan DM Green Monster
Clan Head Land
Clan Hell Crossing
Clan DM High Plateau
Clan Lions Pass
Clan Mosquito
Clan Not The Goat
Clan Pinnacle
Clan DM Pugmill
Clan Scarab
Clan Simian Isle
Clan DM Spikey
Clan The Rack
Clan The Ramp
Clan The River
Clan Wind Chill

and of course

DM Glacier
DM Caldera
Desert Divas

that should just about do it...
oh, and if anyone still cares at all about my mental state of mind and the happiness which i derive from playing TM and the joy this has brought into my life .... all of these maps work just fine on TM v1.0.1, which is what i still mainly play.

toodles, harmless

Scrap Metal: Most DSL and Cable connections have good download speeds and pretty bad upstream. You can look at people's results at www.dslreports.com to get a gander of the range of speeds out there and in your area. To to the "tools" section (IIRC).
Our DSL gets over 1000 kbps downstream, but something like 130 kbps upstream. Pretty common results.

Thanks for playing those maps harmless - I was not sure they would ever get used on a server. It will be nice to see them up come the 1st. I will definitely be playing them all.

They can, but then you'd need SDSL as opposed to ADSL that most folks with broadband have. S (synchronous) DSL is the same speed up and down. Most users only need a small upload link to send their request for web resources, and then use the faster download link to more quickly receive the info they requested (website, file, whatever.) That's what A (asynchronous) DSL does, and it's cheaper. SDSL would be much better if you're hosting a server, but again, you'll pay more for it.

SDSL = Symetrical DSL
ADSL = Asymetrical DSL

Whoever originally spread that sync/async dissinformation should be drawn and qaurtered. LOL

As for cable, cable is capable of extreamly high datarates. To prevent people from running servers and log jamming the network, Cable-based ISPs cap upload rates through your cable modem (the ISP basically has control over you cable modem).

Quite right.

I hadn't had my coffee yet.

Wrong names, but the correct principle.

My dear bro is too cool. This week I should have the correction done the the clan maps so that others can start to use them. Harmless and/or I will tell you when they are ready to download. Thanks for your patience.

Until then...

The taste of coffee and the "delightful difference between men and women" are both tastes that come with age. Just wait! LOL

You don't like the taste?

That's because you never had genuine NYC Roach Coach coffee. Thick enough to slice with a jackhammer and strong enough not only to wake up the dead but give them a caffine rush that the energizer bunny can't outlast!

If regular coffee makes you bounce off walls, NYC Roach Coach coffee will make you go thru them, over and over and over and over agaim, and have enough left to put you into orbit (around jupiter).

The maps sailor made aren't ones that were redone from the original TM are they? If not I think I may already have them.

Scrap, I'm with you, and don't let them fool you with the idea that it is a taste that one aquires over time. Some of never have our taste buds get that corupted.

Correct my maps are not rehashes of existing TM maps. They are all new and designed fresh from DEM's or Terragen with new skyboxes and modifications made by me to the DEM's and or Terragen map layouts. Hope you like them.

Arminto is the name of one of Sailor's maps and another is Arminto Valley.
