What does it take?It would be nice if someone could take on the Master duties when LDA's goes down.Maybe you can just assign the LDA Master IP address as your sub-net IP address in Network Properties?Does it take some kind of special software?

SSG-Vortex and I have repeatedly offered/inquired. I don't think they are interested in having backup Master Servers. tho it is strange that they allow multiple MS entries in server .cfg's .

If you had more than one MASTER SERVER, would the very term not negate itself ?

thinking about a linux port by us making our own game engine, if LDA won't give us the master server app to look at, will we have to program our own master server for linux? Or will it be possible to get the engine to talk to software we've never even touched, only heard?

Maybe you can just do it through the actual game with no extra software?LDA could keep your IP on their computer as a backup and when the game checks LDA for a master IP address then it can provide your IP.Of course they might have to change it manually so they might as well put their master back up?
Maybe they could have it point to another dedicated machine that is ran by one of us, in the event that it doesen't find the LDA master up when it is "checking the LDA website"?
