Well, I did it three times and averaged the results: 2570 down, 120 up. Weird, huh? BTW, I've got @home cable service.

Awwwwww...you poor guys with cable...how do you play?
Anyway...who here has DSL?Read my other thread and you'll see that I might be able to get it.My understanding though is that you have to be so many thousand feet from the telco which puts me out of luck?I also know about ADSL which is slower because you live farther away.My question is has DSL technology changed where it can be stretched a lot further?I'm asking because I recieved a brochure today from my tele comp saying that DSL is not availible and to call and see if its avaible in my area(too bad its Saturday).I think I live about 10 miles from the local tele office. Are they rigging up routers now or something so that most people can get it?I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get it but I'm still crossing my fingers.DSL reports says pretty much the same thing it did last year about who is usually able to get DSL....You can email me also.

The fastest I've ever gotten with my DirecPC was over 900kbps downstream with the DSLreports speed test.Unfortunanty I have to play with straight dialup since DPC has about a 800ms ping......

I have ADSL. http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests/769844;309382;d8515ff03f80f7021b93bbef8f80e7c4;1.1

I live on the edge of SF and it just became available this year. of course they had to wire downtown first. I think sdsl is more for business and also more expensive. cable seems to be the way to go for speed. most isp's make you install software for dsl and i believe that it limits your bandwidth. when I installed xp I didn't need my isp software to set up a connection. as a result my dload speeds have gone from 40-50 to 90-100 kbs

I guess that is not too bad, but my area is fairly heavily saturated with people on the circuits.

What is that...a T1.

I have a cable line not a T1. If that is the speed you get from a T1, cable is a better deal.

hehe

Your download speed : 60992 bps, or 60 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 7.4 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 34662 bps, or 34 kbps.
Your connection hardly qualified as broadband, at least in that test
OOW I feel very inadequate

I don't have a lot of experience with lower bandwidth servers. I am sure a 1 v 1 would work fine- beyond that is unknown territory. Time to experiment
