don't worry America wan't discovered on Thanksgiving day. It couldn't because Thanksgiving day changes every year. Its supposed to make Americans feel united and as a single nation at least theas What Abraham Lincoln wanted when he signed Thanksgiving Day into a national holiday, 3 days after Gettysburg. Now its mostly a time to give thanks and spend time with the family, and take a much needed 2 days off of school -- I almost burnt out there for awhile.

I believe the idea is to give thanks for what god has given us during the previous year. no matter what god we worship. it is a truly universal holiday.

This is one of those holidays that I really enjoy. It is centered on spending time with family and enjoying a traditional meal. We had a great day with both sides of the family. Best wishes to the entire TM community, and thank you for all you bring

Hope you all had a good one. As for myself and me fellow Canadians, we wqere hard at work, trying not to get distracted by football, turkey, and the like---sure sounded good, though!!!

If you want a pretty accurate, though supposed to be farcical understanding of Thanksgiving, watch the Adams Family Movie where Wendy and Pugsly goto camp.
While historians would disagree and my great aunt, who is able to trace her roots back to the religious leaders who first set foot on the soil near Plymouth Rock, would strongly dispute; the reenactment (sp) of the First Turkey day with Wendy's narration is a soberingly true picture of what came to pass.
Doesn't stop me from cooking the bird and eating the pie though.
