What are you online with? A 2400er acoustic modem? Man, that's only 4 Megs! - But the LDA server seems pretty slowish tonight...
You will definitely love the flags...

Anybody check the config.cfg file yet?

I think you'll like the AI-Autofill property that has been added, check it out!

Dreamer ... are you using a joystick? Any problems with it after the CTF patch?

There's a problem with joysticks that at least two of us have seen so far.

For everyone's sake, this needs to be investigated.

I have every confidence that LDA will look into it.

I see the patch added new server commands. Like auto adding and removing of ai tanks.

Actually JL - they have been there for a while...we just never got them writen down before.

BTW - you might want to make a copy of the old TM executable until the servers change over to 1.5.6. 1.5.5 and 1.5.6 can't connect to each other in gameplay due to changes in network protocal required to support CTF.

That would explain the wrong version error when I try to connect.

How do you recommend installing this?I backed up my tm.exe and copied it to another folder.Soon I realized that it needed to be in the same directory to run. So,I pasted it back to the tm directory, then neither the patched game or the original worked.I am now back to where I started with just the original installed.(I'd like to be able to run both seperatly for now)

prolly could use winzip make a zip of v1.5 install v1.56 and make a zip of the tm.exe file. when you want to play 1.5 unzip the v 1.5 tm.exe (replace the existing 1) to change back unzip the v1.56 .exe(don't delete the zip files. remember to name the zips v15 & v156 or something like that) bit of a pain but it should work(i think)

Have you considered simply renaming the old tm.exe and starting TM with two different batch files - flipping the two executables as needed?

I'm not real bright with gaming. Tread Marks is the only one I've ever played with any interest.

What exactky is this CTF? I know it stands for Capture The Flag, but that's where my knowledge ends.

I saw a few new CTF maps in the patched version of TM, and ran them. I saw the large dot on radar and the flag was there.

How do I capture the large flag? I killed all of AI's protecting it, but no bells or whistles went off.

Please explain this for swisher.

Set max teams to 2, and a few AIs. You will spawn near your flag - try to not let the enemy get it. You can also go run off and grab your enemy's flag by running over it. Then you have to bring it back to yours. If you do that, you score. Simple enough.

The AI isn't the best at it (they NEVER just laze around the flag on defense), but they still do OK at the highest skill level.
