We plan to start beta testing the new version of Tread Marks soon.

Anyone interested in being involved should email me privately jim@longbowdigitalarts.com

I'll need basic information about the system configuration you plan to use for the tests.

The test patches will drop in and run with the full version.

Mods will be welcome but our priority will be to test the unaltered game.

Additional info will be posted over the next few days.

If you can't speak English, at least learn how to say "YOU DIE FOR ALLAH!" in Arabic and fire an AK-47.

Thanks everyone....I'll get to specifics as soon as I can...It may be a day or two getting set up.

...and lower end systems are good for testing too...

W00t I got plenty of low end systems. And maybe I can test and see if it will run on my system (The athlon) with a virge/gx2 4mb AGP (someone gave it to me)

Well, after I got this system for a week I didn't have my 3d accelerator and I ran in SW on a ATI Mach64 GT and that worked pretty good @ 640x480x16, with a good amount of detail...

LOL I suspect my 486 would perform better (I know for a fact it's a lot faster than a p90)

It's better than the 1.1 gig SCSI FULL SIZE drive I have downstairs. Yes, full size. That's THREE drive bays. Sick, huh?

I think people running M$ OSs have more to worry about than Y2K compliance

We hope to be ready to start by mid-week.

The initial download to upgrade the full version will be large...100-150megs...Yes, there have been minor changes in a lot of different places....

After that initial mega download...the updates will be 1meg or so.

At this stage the intent will not be to test mods or modifiability, but to check out the new game features...

A private master server will be set up, so that beta testers can find other beta test games.

We'll likely set up a private mailing list...

is there anyway to send those downloads by cd? i bet i could coax some parents into buying some, otherwise, i'll still try to take the download.

guess that leaves me out for testing then. I don't really fancy the idea of an 8.5 hr dl even with get right. this time of year it would prolly take a week (between thunderstorms)

That size is ok, just try and put it on a fast server. I hate it when i can only get 20k/s when my max is 100k/s.
