The BWL clan site will be up soon....
Noper, Temporal Chaos, would you mind my linking to your models? Or to your sites, at least?
I'd really like to...
LDA, would _you_ mind if I linked to your site?
Chuck, how about you?

Yeah, sure. The more sites that are up, and linked to each other, the better.

LDA has np with links to them, and you can use the TM logos so long as you put a (tm) somewhere, look at RC's site for an example

A first, very ugly UC version of the site is now up at
http://www.planet-interkom.de/jentsch

Beware! This is VRML, and quite a huge download.

This will be the first _virtually real_ TM tank showroom ever...

I know there's still lots of work to do, but no, I will _not_ have the tanks textured. At the TM showroom, we only feature tank prototypes in plain plastic.

As for links, I am working on a tank purchase system that will enable you to get them right from the TCC (tank control console) (you'll see what I mean) right now, but there's a math exam I have to pass next week so I won't change very much until around July, 15th.

I'd be very interested in suggestions, opinions and the like. Post them here.

PS: Do not forget: The IE plugin for VRML sucks and THIS SITE WILL NOT WORK WITH IT. Use Cortona or the like. I use it. No, I have forgotten the URL, but you'll find it, I am sure. As for other VRML viewers, I am not sure whether they might work, you'll have to try. I think Cortona rocks.

Ok, Ok, the site should work with the std.plugins now.

You can get the Cortona VRML plug-in here:

http://www.parallelgraphics.com/htm/en/prod/index.html?cort/cort.html

Click on Download Cortona v 2.1 (r.34).

After downloading and installing the Plug-In, remember to exit and restart your browser (perhaps Shift-Refresh will work).

nice, dreamer!

suggestions:

1) add viewpoints to bring the viewer back to home, or to view the different tanks in the scene. i suggest setting the viewer at a location slightly above and off to the side when viewing a tank (for example, if the center of the tank is at 0,0,0 place the viewer at 1,1,1 looking at 0,0,0).

2) animate the tank turrets to slowly rotate, as it is sometimes difficult to see the detail if the tanks are textured all the same color.

3) turn of the fog (i assume it's on). i find it annoying, personally. and doesn't it slow down rendering?

4) give the black widow tank a much different color than the walls. is it the same (grey), or is it black, and the faces appear grey viewed from angles?

again, very nice... i can't wait to see more!

Reminds you of you, Hawk, RC and me in test 2, doesn't it, peeet? We gotta do a digging reunion sometime
Hey, Dvs, you think your comp is mean, well I can RECORD MOVIES in TM and still play fine. Yep, at Hawk's house saturday, I'm gonna have him upload one (l33t nuke effects, but I made sure not to give any of my trade secrets away Of course, I switch to 320x240 to record them, but I get like 10fps At 1024x768 (my normal setting), I get like 1/2-1 FPS, even with my awesomely fast HD (a WD Expert 7200RPM 20.5 gig drive

I also have some cool screenshots that I should upload sometime...

A new version will be up really soon.... Again, I could not resist this brilliant language called VRML.
The fog will probably stay, for the slowdown it causes is nothing against the slowdown the faces hidden by the node would cause.

Come in and see for yourself.
