There have been a number of cracked cds... enough to suggest defective manufacture.

Unfortunately, we are not sure at this time what percentage of the cds manufactured will turn out to be defective.

.....suggestions.......

The situation is aggravated by the newer faster drives

Tread Marks copy protection is minimal...

...so, if you have done a full install of the music, then the cd is only needed briefly the first time that you start a single player game....

...and as all other modes work without the cd, it can be removed as soon as it's presence is verified.

If you have access to a cd burner, then you should make a back-up and use that.

Check the inner ring of the cd for hairline cracks....if one is present we will replace the cd.

Mail it to us at:

Question : does this affect only older CDs, or even the ones being produced now?

It seems to be unpredictable...Most of the CDs seem to be holding up well....

Well, I've had the game for about a month now, worked find in my creative 24x, but I upgraded to an asus 52x this weekend, and Treadmarks didn't like the higher speed. It crumbled, badly... I now have a 200 piece treadmark cd.

Going to mail it to you Luckily, i burnt a copy of it, but since it didn't have any noticable cracks, didn't think i had a defective cd.

Thought my CD was just fine,
then I heard an awful whine!
Hit the Eject with a smack,
My F*%$ING TM has a crack!
And no I didn't make a backup,
So please don't tease me, just you shutup!
We'll make a swap with postage paid,
but now I'll play Vamp Masquerade
until I hear my postman's whistle
Peeto's safe from my cruise missle!

I just use Virtual Drive 2000 and eliminate the need for the CD altogether.
