I see a potential problem with the constantly updating pings for servers. When (and we hope it does) the game reaches a LARGE audience, the constant ping check from hundreds of players at once onto hundreds of server could become a potential game lag problem.

This shouldn't be a problem. A server with 10 players is going to be sending and receiving at the very least a couple of hundred UDP packets per second, and not insignificantly sized ones at that. The ping packets are teeny tiny little UDP packets, and when someone updates the server list or re-pings servers there is a _total_ of 10 pings sent to each server, one ping per second approximately.
