Just a note for anyone who might have missed it on the Tread Marks main page, but I've set out 10:00 PM Eastern each day as a Tread Marks on-line Deathmatch time, to hopefully get a larger number of people together on a regular basis for games. Partly this will be to have some serious tank blasting fun, and partly it will be to give the network code a more strenuous workout.

So if you drop by for a game one of these nights, let me know how the networking goes for you. Also tell me if you think another time of day (or two) might be better.

This is old and not needed.

Ok - I know this is an old thread, but...

What happened to this daily death match. No one is ever on at this time. I find more people on mid-day and after midnight than around 10 PM!

I guess 10pm isn't that popular a time.

When do most people like to play on-line multiplayer games? Back when I played Team Fortress and Quake a lot, I usually played after midnight, but only because the net was too laggy before then.

Well...most games are going arroud the following times:

  • Mid day - but usually set up in advance as to the first few people to join.
  • 6-8:30 PM - this is the most common
  • After midnight

If my server is up and you join mid day on a mon. or wed., I will probably be able to join. Other days is dependent upon availiablity of my roommates system to play on.

I agree with RC on the playing times. I'm on sometimes ~ 1-2 pm (love being homeschooled LOL), and usually if a server is up and I join, someone else does soon. Also nightime at 7-9 or so is a good time for most east-coast people

Since I am probably the only person from this side of the globe. Online gamers get on at 11pm and stay online until around 2-3am
unless they are UO bot weenies who tie up modems all night.

I left nyanko running the dedicated server and saw one other person show up for a while.

I wish there was a server for unix, I detest running game services on doze boxen.

(timezone is JST ^^)

What time zone is JST?

You are not the only person from that side of the globe - I heve seen people from:
South Korea
Australia

Oh, and LDA is looking into a Linux server console.

I suspect that is Japan time zone, if Nyanko is Japanese?

Lets make a new time for daily death matches:

7PM EST (12PM GMT)
10PM EST (3AM GMT)

and for those around the world:

12AM EST (5PM GMT)
3PM EST (8PM GMT)

I will generally check during all of these times to see if a server has people on it.
