Hoplites

By LDAjim,

This is the first in a series of posts that will discuss a broad range of topics relating to Hegemony: Philip of Macedon. This post will introduce the Hoplite unit.

Hoplites form the main infantry battleline of the Greek City-State armies. They wear a helmet, greaves and breastplate and carry a 3-foot diameter shield that provides excellent missile defense. Hoplites advance into battle in close order formations, often charging the last few feet to maximize the impact phase of melee combat. Their main weapon is a 10-foot thrusting spear, used overhand. They also carry a short sword as a secondary weapon. Continued →

New Hegemony Video

By Rick,

Like the monolith, it has finally arrived: a new Hegemony video. We've yet to find ourselves in the office beating each other over the head like untrained monkeys, but we hope you'll enjoy it. This video shows off some of our new high-poly models, buildings, army management, and our map of Greece.

We even have a high definition version for you video afficianados. It should be noted that the file size of our HD video is approximately our target for the download size of the entire game.

Hegemony Compatibility Test

By Rick,

Interested in volunteering to test Hegemony: Philip of Macedon? We're planning a closed compatibility test. This build of the game won't have all the features of the final release, but you can consider it a preview of what the engine can do.

If you're interested in helping, register for an account on the forums and send an email to jmcnally@ldagames.com or send a private message to Jim to apply.

In your application, be sure to include:
* Your username on the forums.
* Your CPU make and model.
* Your video card make and model.
* How much memory your system has.
* Your version of Windows.
* Your full (real) name.
* The city you live in.If you're accepted for the compatibility test, you should hear back from us during the week of August 28th.

We look forward to hearing from you, and good luck!

Updated RSS Feeds

By Rick,

A minor update has been made to the RSS feeds available here at LDA. We now offer an RSS feed specifically for the news, as well as a feed for the forums and one for each of the individual forums (check the individual forums for each of those).

New to RSS feeds? Here's a nice primer. Here at the office we use Mozilla Thunderbird and Mozilla Firefox to keep up on our RSS feeds.

New site design

By Rick,

You may have noticed that we have a new look, again, and this time it's significantly more drastic than the last update. If this isn't your first time here, you might want to refresh the page to make sure you get all the new files. As always, let us know how you like the new look, and drop us a line if you experience any difficulties.

For those of you on our forums, you'll be glad to know that we've finally uploaded some default avatars in the gallery. Go to your profile page to check out our selection.

New Site, New Forums!

By Rick,

You may have noticed the new site here. We're still experiencing some growing pains, but hopefully nothing is too broken (if it is, feel free to email me!)

Part of the new site is our brand new forums. You can still get to the old forums here (the link is also in the tiny text at the bottom of the new forums pages), but we'll be locking it eventually.

Anyway, I need to get the rest of the site working before people start yelling and screaming.

Announcing Hegemony: Philip of Macedon

By Longbow,

We have a new game in development for the PC, "Hegemony: Philip of Macedon", a Real Time Strategy game based on the rise to power of Philip of Macedon, father of Alexander The Great.

For the project we've developed a new and innovative 3D landscape engine. The game map is constructed from satellite DEM data and combines battle and strategy within the same unified 3D world.

Screen shots and additional information can be found on our "Hegemony: Philip of Macedon" pages.
