under addons\entities\weapon down near the bottom of the ent you should find the line that reads 'weight = xxx' simply change the number (lower the no. to reduce how often it shows up)

a weight of 100 is common/ standard/ normal probability of showing up

10 = only a 10% chance of appearing
50 = 50% chance of spawning
60-70 = commonly used for "rare" weapons
200 = weapon becomes very common showing up twice as often as other weapons.


generally a weight between 40 and 120 should be used

Of course, that only applies if all other mods that you've got installed follow the same guidelines. If you've got a mod pack installed that has it's moderate weapons weighted at 300, then a weight of 100 would no longer be considered common.

and the more complicated version of what Vlad says:
as far as I know, the game adds all the "weights" of all the weapons there are, and then calculates the probability of each weapon by dividing its weight into the sum of all weights. for example:
weapon1: weight 10
weapon2: weight 20
weapon3: weight 40

sum: (10+20+40=)70

probabilities:
weapon1: (10/70=)14.3%
weapon2: (20/70=)28.6%
weapon3: (40/70=)57.1%

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is how it's done.
