And this is where ppls opinions get shot to **** because of the bickering and itll stay at 5 *sigh*Some ppl will just hammer away at it for their own benefit rather than the good of the community. I hope this idea gets a fair crack of the whip personally speaking. Speaking of whips, i think i left mine over at Ras's place along with the leather outfit, chains and candlewax; maybe ya could drop that off for me sometime lol.... IP: |

That dead horse is stinky quite abit now, but for my entertainment this is what I found out when you compared the 2 maps, the stock versus the clan Pinnacle.- I played 5 games each, the average of the clan map was 1min 20 sec longer then the stock map - Spawn fragging was common on the stock, I was only spawn fragged once on the clan map - the stock map has rutted terrible the clan was not etc...etc...bah...bah...I do wish folks would listen to this. So, what I am saying is that if you want to have a cool time minus the rutting, spawn fragging, and lag...try modded maps. or at least pick better DM maps and stay away from the race maps.

Just consider this an experiment not a permanent change. We'll discuss how it went with 6 players per clan, because we all enjoy discussing everything. ------------------ Tread Marks Ladders

Last time I checked it was a discussion and not a dictatorship coax. So let the discussion and or vote finish and that will determine what is done the next clan war. Not what you would like to see. After all you are but one voice as are we all and each has a say....------------------ May you always have a following Sea a cool breeze at your back and the comfort of those you hold nearest to your heart. more like platypus than tantalus... if the sake of 2 more players will make others leave, I don't see the benefit; in the other hand, I've seen 2 players leave during clan battle when their teams are not doing good or lag is too strong for them... so... I'll observe their participation from now on to see whether I can make a case..I rather see my team mate play if he's going to stay around...IP: |

@ corpse:does FL have any reasoning behind their opposition to an experimental change to the player limit? simply stating that FL opposes it doesn't add much to the discussion. IP: |

yes, they are part of the community, that's why i'm asking if there is something more to contribute than "we oppose it"this is a discussion after all. IP: |

I personally want to stick with five, however, I believe it would be good to see how it goes for this month what happens with 6. ------------------ =MOD= FISH!!! Whee!!! RB/RBT/TM anyone? Modulus :D Firefox 1.0 Rocks!!! IP: |

Keep in mind that since the time the decision to have 5 people per team was made LDA: a) got a better connection b) got a better router c) cleaned up the server d) used the tools Matrix gave them to optomize the connection. So, 6 players in a team may in fact be feasible at this point, in a lag perspective. Although I'm much of an outsider when it comes to clan battles, I suggest you guys give it a shot just once and see how it goes. If it dosn't work out go back to 5 per team. IF it really gets bad, then use the voting system to vote players off the server. }B> IP: |

I know, as I have mentioned before, we should try it out and see what happens... it wouldn't hurt... also, just a reminder that I still believe that the percentage weight ratio rank thingie matrix mentioned is not a bad idea to implement as well... it wouldn't hurt to try... ------------------ =MOD= FISH!!! Maps choice has a lot to do with it corpse.... rutting and spawning.... ppl losing connection nd rejoining etc....Lag is a fact of online life, it wont go away no matter what you do, all you can do is try to ease it, and LDA have done as much as they can at their end. Now its upto you, optimise your MTU settings, get a good working resolution on your card and drop the net setting so others players get a fair crack of the whip if you havent already. Beyond that, there really isnt much you can do except perhaps limit the choice of maps to the less laggy ones. IP: |

Lag will always be an issue as previously and repeatedly stated because people randomly join anyway. The uninvited and the unorganised. So I really don't see a problem with 6 players (even for a one-off trial) other than the actual number difference which could be eliminated with the %kill.IP: |

well, fl has 5 players now, cat, and dnx have 5 also, bwl may show up with 3-4 and ga 3-4, mod=1, lwa 2-3 that is: (counted 27) at least 24... I say, let's try to bring all clans to max participation and see how the server handles it... if it does then we continue to bring more... if not then why would you want to bring more players for? Even if you have 24 players with dsl but one with dial up, there will be lag. Not that I'm critizing people with dial up.. just a fact, I think.IP: |

Who said anything abouth a 6th player on the board, from my understanding the 6th player would be a back up player. Many times the caln team members have other commitments!Leave the game as it is we will alternate our players as the situation comes about. You guys have a lot to deal with and so far you as a group have done a bang up job...no changes please!..... >CAT<Viper-II votes 5 not 6..I just got my ballot..lol As far as "iregardless" TOM BRADY use's it tha's ok with me..one more SB ring would be nice..well that is my nickels worth,,Happy Fragging...NRM [This message has been edited by =CAT=Viper-II (edited March 18, 2005).] [This message has been edited by =CAT=Viper-II (edited March 18, 2005).] IP: |

Just incase anyione misses this from the other thread:The lag was caused by LogScan getting hosed due to my hosting service deciding to mess with my webserver. THe program hit a bug, whichI fixed but forgot to update before the clan war, and sucked up over 250megs of ram. Hence, your lag. It had nothing to do with maps. It had nothing to do with 6 players on a team. (at least this time around) [This message has been edited by KiLlEr (edited March 18, 2005).] IP: |
