Hi. I have already spoken to Kv, but just to mention something, if you haven't noticed on the Clan War server, it seems as if the clan flags won't show (not the 20 pack, that's fine). I wonder why... curious...

Jujuga, I checked the files. It's an issue that will only affect clans MOD and LWA (how messed up is that?).

For anyone wondering, the green banner has the wrong file name, and the silver banner ent file points to the wrong image.

Hmm, without changing the filename or ent, the silver banner seems to work fine in my pack, but ill update it all the same.

maps selection will reduce the lag.

Just look at the current 3 maps for todays clan battle. The more spread out the spawn points and the number of spawn points detemine the action. Brimstone (22 pts, 18 mins, 22 players) and Black Mesa (25 pts, 19 mins, 21 players) both have lots of spawn points and they are spread out.

Desert Divas with its 15 spawn points and 19 players had the fastest time of 17 minutes.

Why? Cuz you are landing on top of each other. It is easy to frag someone who does not have a weapon.

I had the worst lag on Desert Divas, the best play on Brimstone.

I would use the modded maps that work with large groups. I would say the min amount of spawn points would be double the number of players. Thus you would need maps that have 40 or more spawn points.

Just a thought.

do I really have to dig up my old "what causes lag?" and "what am I really seeing?" post?

no map will change the amount of lag witnessed at last night's event.

reasons:
1. a crater is a crater is a crater, no matter where it happens.
2. players were connecting and disconnecting through the entire event. When a player connects, the server has to update them with everything that has happened up to that point, and with so many players, that's alot of stuff to send, which leads to point 3...
3. there were alot of people there, biggest event in a long time. Lots of people = lots of data flying around = lag. No, i'm not suggesting we reduce the number of people, this probably isn't even a big issue, but it is a possible source. In fact, it brings up another point.
4. the internet is not the best enviroment. We have people connecting from all over, lag just happens.

besides, driving a mile to get to a battle isn't fun.

...actually, it did. It was his very first map. He made the area off the platform into a tank killer. You have about 4 seconds to live...if that.

Let people complain about spawn fragging on that map...

Imagine the tanks all systematically being blown up... one falls, and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up, then one falls and is blown up... FUN!!! (unless you're the one dying... )

What would be funnier is if a nuke spawned every game towards the end. Especially flower power.

Another cause of lag is all the clans that can't field even two players. They take up bandwidth yet don't stand a chance of winning. And now we have the prospect of yet another tiny clan insisting on their right to play.

After you're done being offended you'll realize I'm right. Clan wars are the most competitive of all matches. The "we're playing for fun" argument goes out the window. We may play for fun. But the primary purpose is for title. All of Matrix's hooting and hollering is testament to that. The players that show but see that their clan didn't would serve the greater good by voluntarily leaving.

Anyway, I'm sure this comment will go no where. All the bleeding hearts wouldn't stand for it. We must allow all to play no matter how rotten the lag is and no matter how completely useless their presence is to their clan's standing in the ranking.

Meh.

ai forgot clan rules

Since we are on the subject. rights to chat on game should be limited. at least in clan battles. the ocassional lol or whatever.. ok. but the intentional sarcasm/vexation..sigh.

Should there be a minimum limit then? Between 3-6 players. Any less and you will be required to leave.

nah, just a little better screening on "clan" status... and the freedom to be one. Battles happened before with lower numbers... those participants, should be able to play.
